New acquisitions
A resource for some music from The Pixies, Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, etc.
The Kleptones are apparently masters of mixing (mashing up in the vernacular I'm not yet comfortable with) and have offered up several of their creations on the klepshimi blog (along with two complete live Pixies concerts).
I mirrored The Kleptones' A Night at the Hip Hopera (from Queen's album [Amazon]) and Yoshimi Battles the Hip Hop Robots (from The Flaming Lips [Amazon]). From a casual listen, they appear to be the original albums with the singing replaced by rap. E.g. the rapping from a Beastie Boys song (?) is used with the Yoshimi song "Battle Sequence". A very effective example is the use of Public Enemy on Yoshimi's "Are You a Hypnotist?" renamed as "Are You a Visionary?" Also check out the mash up of Radiohead's "Karma Police" and The Beatles' "A Day in the Life." They work perfectly together.
